In October 2006 the DITA Technical Committee founded a subcommittee bearing the title "DITA Machine Industry Subcommittee".
Target
The target of the subcommittee is to develop new domains and topics for the DITA 1.2 Standard, which focus on the demands in machine and plant engineering . The domains "Software, Programming and User Interface" were already constituents of the DITA 1.0 standards and assist the user in the field of software documentation.
DITA is indeed very suited for documentation in machine and plant engineering and specialisations have already been developed in several companies for machine and plant engineering, however there is now a need for the inclusion of such specialisations in DITA Standard.
