DITA

The Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) is a standardised, however upgradable, XML architecture to create single source-oriented technical descriptions.

DITA, together with the open source, open toolkit available free of charge, a set of DTDs offers the most varying style sheets (e.g. for the transformation to HTML, PDF or other XML standards such as DocBook), and further case examples that are required for the first or second step towards XML.

However, DITA stands for much more. The DITA-specialisation process provides the opportunity to adjust DITA to the company in-house requirements in simple steps, to extend it respectively, to the various types of documents.

DITA is already and integrated constituent of many the state-of-the-art tools known in the XML world, for instance  EPIC, XMLSpy, Serna, WorldServer
OpenTopic, Content Mapper; many further are yet to come more?
