The situation at customer's site
The customer - an international group of companies operating in the field of plant engineering - has created its documentation with FrameMaker+SML so far, whereby some 12 different solutions have developed throughout the group in the meantime. Parallel solutions have developed for various processes, e.g. translation and data filing is rather effected locally.
The target
The customer requires a standardised, solution across the group based on XML with Documentum as Content Management System and Arbortext Editor as editing tool.
The processes are to be standardised and are to be displayed in the system as overall solution.
It must be possible to operate the most varying media such as paper, online documentation, CD and handheld devices from thes XML sources.
The customer has opted for OASIS DITA DTD (Darwin Information Typing Architecture) as standard DTD.
The solution
Phase 1: Setting up the EPIC Documentum system, adapting the DITA-DTD to the additional requirements of the customer.
Phase 2: Implementation of workflows and lifecycles in Documentum and the creation of the XSLT and XSL-FO files for output in PDF.
Phase 3: Implementation of the translation process and of HTML output. Rollout throughout the group of companies.
